Like most other vintage Christmas things, I am obsessed with ornaments!! I started collecting vintage ornaments in 2003, at just 23, and have amassed a nice little collection in the 14 years since then.
It wasn't until 2008 that I really started decorating my trees (yes, plural) with vintage ornaments. That year I bought my first white tree for my then minty blue office. My office was all pastel pink and green and blue and the white tree with the Shiny Brite ornaments just seemed to work. I instantly fell IN LOVE!!
When I moved into the first of 2 farmhouses in 2013, I decided to decorate the "main" tree in all vintage ornaments too. Up until that point, my main tree had always been more formal -- ornaments that matched the decor and color scheme of the room. But that Christmas I decided that a colorful tree filled with vintage ornaments would be perfect for a 100+ year old farmhouse.
Each year since, I've decorated my main tree in hundreds of Shiny Brites and other special ornaments from places like West Germany and Poland, adding the indents and lanterns last so that they'd have prominent spots on the tips of the branches.
I put up my aqua tree in my dining room and fill it with pale pink and mint green and Robin's egg blue balls, then fill in with the older, delicate special ornaments. Each year I find a couple of new-to-me ornaments that I simply can't live without.
I don't have the space to put up enough trees to display all of my vintage ornament collection, but they're tucked safely away in storage tubs for my "someday" house which will have a couple thousand square feet and plenty of rooms for more trees. For now, I enjoy the 2 full size trees and the hundreds of ornaments that are on display for 8 weeks every year.
This picture shows the new-to-me ornaments I've recently acquired that I'm hanging on the living room tree this week. I am totally in love with those pinecones and tear drop shaped ornaments!!
What's your favorite ornament on your tree?
Sharing my collection of vintage, kitschy Christmas goodies I've found over the years. I love old Shiny Brites, vintage Christmas ephemera, old Gurley candles, tinsel, big light bulbs, felt stockings and on and on. I sell some of my items on etsy, at http://www.verykitschychristmas.etsy.com and on Instagram @verykitschychristmas.

Vintage Poodle Christmas Gift Wrap
One of my favorite things to find while I'm out thrifting is vintage wrapping paper. Last week I stopped at Salvation Army and found an entire unopened package of vintage Christmas wrapping paper. One of the sheets inside was this -- vintage poodles!! I immediately fell in love, because POODLES!! I love poodles, especially vintage poodles. But Christmas poodles? Be still my heart! This wrapping paper is going into my "keep forever and ever" pile. I can't even bring myself to use it, but I very well may frame it and hang it on the wall somewhere!!

My Vintage Inspired White Christmas Tree
Hey folks. It's beginning to look like Christmas here in our house. Well, at least in my office anyway. Aside from feeling like I've got an annex of Santa's workshop due to my constant glittering of tags and cards and listing awesome vintage goodies, I have managed to get my tree up!!
I say it every year, but I am IN LOVE with my white tree, covered in tons of vintage ornaments, dripping in pastel pinks, greens and blues. I love love love it. I could keep it up year round and never tire of seeing it.
I've been lucky enough to snag some special new-to-me vintage ornaments this year: some Shiny Brite unsilvered lanterns, a whole box of Shiny Brite indents, a couple of West Germany tear drop shapes. And thankfully, I have only had one ornament fatality so far, though I have 3+ trees to go so I may have to amend this at a later date!!
I am so excited to decorate for Christmas this year. It feels awesome having a house big enough to accommodate all of my treasures. I'll be back soon to share pictures once I've decked the halls.

Christmas Countdown - 51 Days
Hey folks!! The countdown is well under way for those of us that LOVE Christmas. It's only 51 short days until the big day. Can you believe it? I say it every year, but this year has FLOWN by.
In preparation for the big day, I've been a busy little elf here in my studio, cranking out tons of vintage-inspired tags to stock my Etsy shop: Very Kitschy Christmas .
This year, I've added a new line of matching cards for some of the tag designs. Each card is printed on heavy cardstock and is embellished with glitter. There is ample room inside to write a nice note to your friends and family. The cards measure a generous 4.25" x 5.5" and come with envelopes, of course!!
As time permits, I am adding new designs in both tags and cards to offer a greater variety of retro goodness for Christmas packages. And as always, I am stocking my shelves with lots of great vintage product too -- ribbon for tying on packages or making bows, vintage ornaments for adorning your tree, vintage invitations for holiday parties, and so much more!
If you aren't already following my Christmas shop on Instagram, I invite you to do so. I have some exclusive coupon codes planned for the next few weeks that will only be available on Instagram. You can find me there using @verykitschychristmas.

Ho, Ho, Ho - TWO MONTHS!!
Hi guys. It's two months til Christmas eve. Can you believe it?? I cannot! It seems this year has really flown by. I've moved (again) and have finally unpacked some of my vintage Christmas goodies and have listed them in my etsy shop, Very Kitschy Christmas. I have several more boxes of vintage Christmas to list still and of course, I'm always hunting for new vintage goodies.
I have opened an account on Instagram just for my Very Kitschy Christmas goodies as well -- you can find me at Very Kitschy Christmas Please follow so that you will be the first to know of any insta-sales or coupon codes for my Etsy shop.
I cannot wait to get busy decorating for Christmas this year. It will be the first time since 2009 that I've really gone all out. In 2010, I was in the middle of a separation and divorce so I didn't decorate aside from my white tree with vintage Shiny Brites and then in 2011 I was living in a small apartment with all of my holiday stuff packed away in storage. I did put up the white tree last year but this year I am really getting into the decorations. I have a new-to-me farmhouse that we're renting in the beautiful mountains of western NC and there are tons of areas to decorate.
Can't wait to post new goodies on here in the upcoming weeks!! Let me know if you're looking for anything in particular.
